APARTMENT FOR AN AGING PARENT

The program for this project included a Master Bedroom with a Barrier-Free bath and a Caretaker’s bedroom with adjacent bath. Other amenities include a large Great Room and kitchen with a sheltered porch off the master bedroom offering views of a nearby lake and a bright, sunny breakfast nook at the Great Room.  The family wanted a style consistent with the existing rural Virginia home and abundant shelves for the display of a lifetime of memories.

Barrier-Free features include wide corridors, paddle handles on doors and faucets, curbless shower in the master bath, kitchen storage at reachable levels and supplementary grab bars throughout.
