ADDITION AND WHOLE HOUSE RENOVATION
The Client asked for a new kitchen, family room and master suite as well as a renovated dining room, guest room suite and second floor bedrooms. The over-riding goal was to combine the esthetics of a mid-nineteenth century Italianate farmhouse with deep-green features.
Design elements throughout replicate and expand upon existing trim and architectural detail.
Green features include super- insulate walls using structural insulated panels at new upper floors and insulated concrete forms at foundation walls, augmented insulation on the existing house combining foam and rigid insulation, geo-thermal heating tied into radiant floor heat, a heat energy recovery ventilator, and southern orientation for passive solar gain and future installation of photovoltaic panels.
